Aruabits trains talented disadvantaged youth in West Nile in the following programs

ICT Multimedia

This is a very innovative ICT course which is implemented in three levels namely Course one: Getting Connected, Course two: Digital Garage and Course three: Media lab. The courses are progressive starting from introduction to computers up to specialization in ICT Web design and development. Media Lab is the highest and the final level of training after which the graduates are linked to internship and employment opportunities in ICT related companies.

Entrepreneurship program

The multimedia course more often than not pushes youth to getting formal jobs. But in an effort to motivate youth to become entrepreneurs and take advantage of the opportunities that exist currently in the market; Aruabits also trains youth in entrepreneurship. This program enlightens the youths on business skills required to identify opportunities, start, run and grow businesses. By the end of this course, the youth acquire useful skills to run their own businesses.

Life skills curriculum

Aruabits works with you from the vulnerable communities that have no chances of ever learning the soft skills that are required to access and retain jobs in both the formal and non-formal sectors. Further still, the normal education system in West Nile doesn’t teach soft skills that are necessary for both social and professional life.

Further still, the normal education system in Uganda doesn’t teach soft skills that are necessary for both social and professional life. To better prepare our trainees for both for life and for the job market, Aruabits trains youth in life skills.

The objectives of Aruabits Life Skills Training program are:

  • To empower youth socially and economically to become agents of social and economic change in their communities.
  • To instill skills among youth that enables them to overcome the challenges of growing up and become responsible adults including communication skills, decision-making, assertiveness, setting goals, resisting peer pressure and HIV and AIDS.
  • Reinforce and promote attitudes and behaviours that will lead to a better quality of life for target youth.
  • Improve access to self and formal employment.

For the entrepreneurship program we work together with experts of Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT), who provide DOT's renowned ReachUp! program to our students.

Aruabits core functions is to inculcate entrepreneurship spirit amongst its beneficiaries through Enterprise development or Business Incubation support to enable beneficiaries create jobs and create wealth which fits in the National Development Agenda of poverty eradication.
